Hi prospective client, congratulations on taking the first courageous step in starting your mental health journey by consulting this website- and hopefully- reaching out to this practice to start your services today! Let me introduce myself: My name is Jordon Marie Distad and I am a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor for the state of Ohio. This means I am a Master's level clinician. I earned my Bachelor's of Science in Psychology from Macon State College in 2012. I then obtained my Master's degree in education from Cleveland State University in 2020 where I went on to sit for my licensure exam to be a board-approved counselor. During my master's education, I earned clinical experience working with adolescents and college students as part of my practicum and internship requirements assisting with intensive outpatient (IOP) groups/Aftercare Services and attending to clients for individual counseling sessions. Post graduation I have experience across the lifespan with particular emphasis on children, adolescents, young adults, and new parents. I also have experience with couples, families, and advocacy.

During my counseling sessions, my aim is to provide comfort, safety, and hope by focusing on my client's individual goals and values by establishing a strong therapeutic relationship to work towards more effective coping and well-being in their personal lives. I use modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, breath and grounding work, and inner child to heal past trauma. I often work with clients experiencing relationship challenges, developing personal identities, managing anxiety/OCD, and improving mood as a result of depression, negative self-talk or low self-esteem. It would be my honor to begin establishing trust with you today. Being a therapist is more than my occupation, it has been my life's calling. When off duty I enjoy music, fishing, and time with my dogs and children.
